Sapa

Sapa in northwestern Vietnam.  A popular trekking base overlooking the terraced rice fields in the valleys below.

Tie dye indigo scarves in a mountain town

In the town center. Roadside market on a very hot day

Modern architecture around the lake

Colourful girl's skirts for sale

Biltong!  Or then dried buffalo meat.  Which they apparently cook before eating. (a little disappointing I'd say)

Bamboo waterwheel just outside Sapa town

A 3-day 2-night trekking trip in the mountains.

Grating tapioca (cassava)

Tan, owner of the homestay, cooking our first evening meal in the mountains.

Balancing on the edge of a rice terrace

With our local guide, Lang

Batik workshop in the mountains at Indigo Cat.

Trying out indigo and being amazed by how green leaves turn blue!

Results of the workshop! (one of which had been finished by the teacher due to lack of interest :)
